Each of these residential programs provide an opportunity for 6 male youth, aged 13 to 19, to reside and be cared for by professional Child and Youth Workers. Many youth come to us to improve their personal, interpersonal, and social nature including self esteem, identity, family problems, delinquency, and aggression. We use a CARE model (see Treatment Services) that focuses on strengths through supportive counsel, and builds hope, self-esteem and curiosity.
Twyn Rivers Residence is a modern two story brick home located in a residential neighbourhood. It has large private bedrooms for six youth upstairs, a large kitchen, family room and offices on the main floor and a large recreation room in the finished basement. There is room for outdoor recreational activities in the backyard.
Dunbarton Residence is also located in a residential neighbourhood. It is a brick bungalow with a walk out from the basement located on a private wooded lot. There are six private bedrooms, and lots of space for recreation (both inside and out). The garage has been converted into a recreation room.
Many of the residents attend our Section 23 Class at Dunbarton High School. The goal is to integrate the youth into the mainstream school as soon as possible. We also have an elementary school Section 23 class at Rosebank Road Public School.
All of the youth in these programs have been placed by a Children’s Aid Society or by Mental Health with the legal guardian. (see Value Added Services for program details)
