Value Added Services For Children and Youth A Fernie House we believe that every child and youth deserves access to all of the advantages that will help them progress in their lives. To do this we have developed many value added services that are not readily covered in our ministry contracts and agreements from our placement agencies (CAS).
As a charitable organization we have donated funds and contacts that allow us to provide extra services to each child and youth.
| We believe that every child and youth should participate in an individual development activity (ex: Music lessons, gym memberships, special interest courses – martial arts, tennis, arts painting and drawing, and technical training – first aid, computer skills). We provide tutoring lessons for school success, and on and on.We believe that every child and youth should participate in a group community activity. We fund Hockey, Soccer, Football, Choir, Theatre Arts, Heritage clubs, and on and on.
We also believe that having citizen documents is an important key to joining society (ex: Social Insurance card, Health card, Driver G! and Drivers Ed Training and G2 license. Financial Management Education- taxes, banking,... We fund extra independent study courses in order to assist in the attainment of High School graduation. Our goal is to act like a reasonable parent to the children and youth while they are with us, to that end we will fund all of the usual needs as listed above. Often children and youth in care miss out on these added supports due to lack of funds or bureaucratic limitations, not so at Fernie House.
| |
We are developing a Fernie Kids fund that will be available to children and youth after they leave our care. They will be able to contact us at any time in the future for advice, support and financial assistance from this fund.
| We offer a one rate per diem as set by the Ministry license. Fees and expenses that fall outside of the covered per diem will be assumed by Fernie House and our charitable fund. We provide electronic records to placement agencies including all reports and plans of care (POC) in a word document format suitable for cut and paste transfer to agency databases. We provide a Sharepoint portal for placement agency staff to log-in and see the daily log, communications log and all in residence documents, activities and appointments related to the child or youth placed. These value added services for placement agencies provide the most effective and efficient manner to ensure that our care is high quality and totally transparent to the placement agency.
