Child Welfare - Latency Program

Rosebank Residence

Pickering, ON
Funding:                   Children’s Aid Societies; fee for service

The Rosebank Residence is located in a residential neighbourhood on a large lot.  The house is a large open concept facility built as a group home with private bedrooms on the main floor and recreation facilities in the basement.  There is a large fenced recreation area outside.

The program provides residential care and treatment for 6 children aged 9 to 14. Many children come to us to improve their personal, interpersonal, and social skills this includes self esteem, identity, family problems, delinquency, and aggression. We use a CARE model (see treatment services) that focuses on strengths through supportive counsel, and builds hope, self-esteem and curiosity. Our supportive counselling is provided by site staff including our MSW Social Worker and externally by a consulting Child Psychiatrist.

Many of the residents attend the Section 23 Class at Rosebank Road Public School.  The goal is to integrate the child into the mainstream school as soon as possible.

All of the children in this program are placed by a Children’s Aid Society.  The children are experiencing difficulties living at home and/or being in the community.  Both male and female children aged 9 to 13 may be placed in this program.  Most of our children have mental health concerns and require medication monitoring in addition to their treatment and counselling needs. (see Value Added Services for more program details)
